Looking forward to this one! I’m presenting a research-creation project at the Society for the Study of Affect conference in Vancouver who’s theme this year is MAKE! My project, “14 Yawns: the Capacities of Boredom”, poetically uncovers intersections between boredom, inattention, shamanism, Nam June Paik, Michael Snow, and Aki Onda. The primary resource will be the liner notes for Aki Onda’s audio seance, Nam June’s Spirit Was Speaking to Me. These liner notes are 14 images of Paik yawning on the set of Michael Snow’s comedic structuralist film Rameau's Nephew' by Diderot (Thanx to Dennis Young) by Wilma Schoen (1974). I’m treating the poem as a diverse form of attention directed through experimental poetry, theory, and sound! Hope to see you there!
